The Changing Global Coffee Supply

As you all know we Mule Coffee Roasters have robust relationships with all our farmers in Colombia. This is the reason why we do not have to worry about supply. However, increase on prices not only in coffee but in global logistics are currently pushing the prices of every single product and commodity around the world.

The most important reason behind this even relies on the biggest producing country in the planet: Brasil.
2020 brought devastating draughts and frosts to Brazilian agricultural lands. The country accountable for 42% of global coffee production fell millions of coffee sacks behind. At the same time Social unrest was taking place in Colombia and other coffee producing nations.
The second most influential reason is the current logistic mayhem around the world. Freight companies have been seriously affected by the Covid 19 pandemic making container transportations prices skyrocket to almost 300%.

2022 has kick-started with retail coffee increases for the final consumer. Even the biggest players in the market like Starbucks have hiked their menues twice in the past 6 months.

Despite the rapid changes in the market we believe that for the specialty coffee sector this is a great opportunity to stabilize costs, prices and set the foundations for a more sustainable premium coffee production chain.

The current adjustments will force coffee roasters to adapt and innovate. Some roasters will compromise on quality while others will keep their promise to their consumers.

Colombian Connection Coffee is committed to sustainability, both social and environmental as the only genuine channel to achieve higher quality.
