French Press Coffee Brewing Guide

One of the most popular brewing methods ever used around the world.

The French Press can be found in almost every supermarket, hotel or Airbnb anywhere, everywhere.

You will need:

  • Your French press

  • A wood or plastic stirrer

  • A small scale (To weight your coffee and water)

  • A timer (we need to keep an eye on time)

  • Coffee grinder (We recommend it to keep your brew fresh and tasty)

  • Coffee beans (Pre-ground if you don’t have a coffee grinder)

  • A water kettle (Gooseneck is highly recommended even better with adjustable thermostat)

These are the tools you need to make a French press coffee extraction

Plunging your coffee after brewing
Once plunged serve in your coffee cups or place it in a separate jug to stop coffee and water contact preventing over-extraction and subsequently bitterness in your brew

Step 1

Grind your coffee. Weight your (medium size ground) coffee (25gr for two cups). Place ground coffee inside French press.

Step 2

Place the French press with the ground coffee on the scale. Start your timer while you start gently and evenly pouring about 100gr of hot water (at 93c) making sure all the coffee is wet.

Step 3

Stir the coffee gently while you let it brew between 30 seconds to a minute.

Step 4

Finish adding the rest of the hot water (400ml) and let it brew until completing 4 minutes since timer started (Step 2).

Step 5

Stir the coffee one last time breaking the crust on top of the brewed coffee. Place the plunger on top and gently press it downwards evenly and consistently.

Step 6

Once plunged serve in your coffee cups or place it in a separate jug to stop coffee and water contact preventing over-extraction and subsequently bitterness in your brew.

Enjoy!
